In the early hours of Sunday, May 16th, Red's Dairy Freeze suffered a devastating fire. Around 3-am, fire crews from South Portland and Cape Elizabeth responded to an electrical fire started in the bathroom. The fire was contained quickly, The physical structure suffered no harm, but the inside was totaled.

It is estimated temperatures reached over 1700 degrees fahrenheit. The cinderblock walls which still stand, trapped the heat inside. The heat melted nearly everything plastic. The fire, which was contained to the back area destroyed the bathroom and much of the back prep area. The tile ceiling is gone. The windows are cracked from the heat. Everything is covered in black soot.

At this current time, we are in the process of sifting through the mess. Once the mess the cleared, we will re-build. How long that will take, and when we will re-open is still undetermined, but we will be back. Leonard "Red" Bolling would have it no other way.

We sincerely appreciate all the e-mails and calls of support, thank you.

Please visit the Official Red's Facebook page to stay updated on the Red's recovery. Pictures of the destruction, and re-build will be posted there.

Thank you again for all your kind thoughts and words,
The Bolling Family and all the Red's Employees.
